USB Information Session in Kenya

We, the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB), are hosting an Information Session in Nairobi, Kenya on Thursday, 15 August. We invite you to join us and discover our programmes during this interactive session.

This year, we are excited to have Dr Nthabiseng Moleko, a lecturer in Managerial Economics and Statistics, as the guest speaker. Dr Moleko is the first South African female to have completed her doctorate in Development Finance. She will talk about the use of Development Finance to reignite the continent’s economy.

Refreshments will be served after the session and you will also have the opportunity to network with fellow attendees and USB representatives.

Dr Nthabiseng Moleko is a faculty member at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB) where she teaches Economics and Statistics part time. She was appointed by the President of the Republic as a Commissioner for the Commission for Gender Equality in 2017. She is passionate about development economics, women economic empowerment and development finance, and her mission is to alleviate poverty and be an instrument of positive social and economic change in South Africa and the continent at large.

She seeks to understand how financial development (and more specifically pension funds) in Africa can be better used to aid economic development. Her research on pension funds in the South African context has been presented at the International Pensions Workshop, African Development Finance Series, Global Development Finance Conference and PEG Net Conference of Poverty Alleviation held in Accra, Zurich, Cape Town and Paris respectively.  Her work has also translated into written articles in FinWeek, African Development Banks’s Making Finance Work for Africa and Business Live.  The African Institute of Financial Markets and Risk Management (AIFMRM) selected her as one of the leading future African researchers in Finance and Economics for the 2016 Summer School.

As a former CEO at the Joe Gqabi Economic Development Agency (JoGEDA), Project manager and Researcher at the Eastern Cape Socio-Economic Consultative Council (ECSECC), she has worked extensively in the economic development landscape. The Minister of Trade & Industry has appointed her as a Board of Trustee for the National Empowerment Fund, where she Chairs the Boards Investment Committee.

She is also an author and avid poet. She has published three books: Career Guidance and Technical Training: A solution for youth unemployment, and two anthologies of poetry (Abundant Living and Been Chasing Destiny). Her twitter handle is @drnthabimoleko and Facebook Page is Been Chasing Destiny.
