USB Information Session in Ghana

We, the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB), are hosting an Information Session in Accra, Ghana on Tuesday, 13 August. We invite you to join us and discover our programmes during this interactive session.

This year, we are excited to have Prof Piet Naudé, USB Director, and Prof Meshach Aziakpono, a professor in Economic and Financial Integration in Africa at USB, as the guest speakers. They will discuss, The skills required for African business leaders in the 21st century.

Refreshments will be served after the session and you will also have the opportunity to network with fellow attendees and USB representatives.

Guest Speakers

Piet Naude holds a Master’s degree in Philosophy and a PhD in Theology from Stellenbosch University.    After filing the positon of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (academic) at Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, he was appointed University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB) Director in September 2014.

Piet is rated National Research Foundation scientist, has received an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation scholarship to the Universities of Heidelberg and Bamberg (Germany), and life membership of the Centre for Theological Enquiry at Princeton University (USA).

He is a non-executive director of the USB-ED Board, a director of The Ethics Institute Board, a Trustee of the Wilderness Foundation Africa, and a member of the EFMD Dean’s Steering Committee.

Meshach Aziakpono (PhD) is a Professor of Development Finance and until April 2013 was the Head
of Development Finance Programmes at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB). Before
joining the USB he was Associate Professor of Economics and the Coordinator of Master’s
Programme in Financial Markets in the Department of Economics and Economic History at Rhodes
University, South Africa. Meshach Aziakpono has worked as a consultant among others for the OECD
Centre, The World Bank and African Economic Research Consortium (AERC). He has been a visiting
scholar to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and INSEAD in Singapore. He obtained his PhD
degree in Economics from the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein in South Africa. His PhD
Thesis titled: “The Depth of Financial Integration and its Effects on Financial Development and
Economic Performance of the Southern African Customs Union Countries” won the Founders’ Medal
for the best PhD dissertation in Economics in South Africa. He has vast experience in teaching,
research, consulting and postgraduate research supervision. His research interests include:

  •  Economic and Financial Integration
  •  Financial Sector Development in Africa
  •  Development Finance in Africa
  •  Applied Econometrics.
