The coaching industry is constantly evolving to cater to the needs of the leaders it serves. However, the impact of the pandemic was revolutionary, forcing coaches worldwide to cater to the resulting complexity.

Join us for our brand new Leadership Coaching Roundtable Series, where we will unpack the latest developments in the coaching industry, and discuss the best ways to enable clients to thrive, not merely survive, amidst the pandemic. In this session, our panel of experts will explore how coaches have adapted their practice during the pandemic and will delve into the role that coaching can play in helping us to navigate the “new normal”.

Dr Nicky Terblanche usb

Dr Nicky Terblanche

Dr. Nicky Terblanche is a senior lecturer and research supervisor on the MBA, MPhil Coaching and PhD programmes at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB), South Africa. His academic interests include both leadership coaching and information system. He also runs an executive and leadership coaching practice. He has an MPhil in Management Coaching, an MScEng in electronic engineering and a PhD in Business Management. His research interests include transition coaching, transformative learning, Social Network Analysis, complexity theory and the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in coaching and management. He has published in a number of international academic journals and regularly presents at international conferences.

Dr Dorrian Aiken
Lecturer, Facilitator and Coach: Coaching and Leadership at Stellenbosch University

Dr Aiken PhD, D.Prof has taught in coaching and leadership development at the University of Stellenbosch Business School since the inception of its Masters in Management Coaching in 2010, as well as contributing coaching skills to several post-graduate courses. Dorrian also teaches a coaching and leadership component on a master’s programme at the Nelson Mandela School, at the University of Cape Town (UCT).  She graduated as a Master Integral Coach™ from The Integral Coaching Institute, Canada. Dorrian is also a certified Thinking Environment™ Coach and Consultant and was a founding member of the Time to Think™ Collegiate in South Africa.  She also founded ProCorp cc (1997-2014) working with cultural diversity and exclusions in the workplace.

Dr Kathy Bennett
Leadership & Executive Coach and Faculty Member at Stellenbosch University

Dr Bennett is a leadership/executive coach and faculty member of Stellenbosch University. She has done research on executive leaders’ experienced uncertainty during organisational change and is the author of “Living and leading through uncertainty: Developing leaders’ capability for uncertainty”.

Dr-Dumi-Magadlela

Dr Dumi Magadlela
International Executive Coach, Coach Trainer and Leadership Development Facilitator

Dr Magadlela is an accredited international executive coach, team coach, coach trainer, leadership development facilitator, organisational ‘people whisperer’, and African skills development practitioner. He is based Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a regularly featured speaker and panellist on coaching, leadership, and people development. He is an author on executive coaching, coaching approaches, ubuntu values, and people development. Dumi co-founded the Ubuntu Coaching Foundation (UCF) at The Coaching Centre (TCC) in South Africa where he has been part of Senior Faculty for over ten years. He delivers a module on “Coaching in the African Context”. Dumi is part-time faculty at the University of Stellenbosch Business School’s MPhil in Management Coaching. He has vast experience working across the African continent and collaborating with other coaches globally. He currently serves as a Trustee on the Board of the International Coaching Federation Foundation (ICF-F).

Dumi is part of an international faculty at the WBECS’ Global Team Coaching Institute (GTCI). He is accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) as a Senior Practitioner in Team Coaching. He also facilitates engagement sessions on “Coaching from an African Perspective” in South African universities, and uses Ubuntu and Ubuntu Coaching perspectives (“I am because we are”) from a systems, gestalt, and integral approaches. He features regularly on local and international coaching, leadership, and speaking platforms.

Dr-Roger-Maitland

Transition Coach and Founding Member & Director at LifeLab

Dr Maitland is a transition coach who partners with leaders, teams and organisations to thrive as they transition to a more sustainable future. His coaching focuses on developing the adaptive capacity necessary to create results in fast-changing environments.  Roger is a founding member and director of LifeLab, a coaching organisation that enables leaders, teams and organisations to navigate transitions through individual and group coaching. He is a visiting lecturer on the MPhil in Management Coaching at the University of Stellenbosch Business School. Roger holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Corporate Sustainability) from the University of Cape Town, and a M.A. Professional Development (Coaching), passed with distinction, from Middlesex University. He is an accredited coach at the Master Practitioner level with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC Global).

Dr Mongezi Makhalima

Dr Mongezi Makhalima
Organisational Development Specialist, Learning Expert and Executive Coach

Dr Makhalim is an organisation development specialist, organisational learning expert & executive coach with 30 years of working with organisations and leadership in corporates and NGO’s. He has recently been named as one of the Top 50 Leadership Coaches in the world.

He is currently the Chairperson of the Africa Board for Coaching, Consulting and Coaching Psychology (ABCCCP), and also sits as non-executive director on several boards in the NGO, film and music sectors. Mongezi is also one of the founding members of the Special Interest Group on Consulting and Coaching psychology with the Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychologists of South Africa (SIOPSA). He is one of the global founding members of the International Society for Coaching Psychology (ISCP).

He serves as a faculty member in the Faculty of Commerce, Law and management of the University of the Witwatersrand as well as the Wits Business School, teaching Masters and advanced programmes in leadership and coaching. He holds a BCom in Industrial psychology and Business management, an MBA through the University of the North West, an MA in Coaching Psychology with a focus on Work-based Learning from Middlesex University in the UK as well as a PhD in Organisational Psychology with the Commonwealth University in the UK.

Mongezi has presented and written widely on the subject of coaching, mentoring and leadership and works with clients globally and locally in organisations that include: MTN, Sasol, CITI Bank, FNB, Rio Tinto, De Beers, Vodacom, Allan-Gray Orbis, Barclays PLC amongst others.

Dr Sunny Stout
International Executive Coach

With over 25 years’ international experience as an executive coach, Sunny believes there is a strong link between emotional intelligence and business results – she works with executive leaders and their teams to help them achieve individual, team and organisational goals, gaining wisdom and knowledge through their own experience. She is Executive Director of Sunny Stout-Rostron Associates CC, Advisory Board Member with the Professional Development Foundation UK (PDF), and Founding Fellow and Research Advisor at the Institute of Coaching at Harvard McLean Medical School. She completed her doctoral research in Executive Coaching with Middlesex University London, and continues to lecture and supervise research at several graduate schools of business to contribute to the development of executive coaches.

Prof Salomé van Coller-Peter

Senior Lecturer and Researcher in Management Coaching at the University of Stellenbosch Business School

Salomé a senior lecturer and researcher in Management Coaching at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB). She is also a registered industrial psychologist and professional coach who completed her MCom in Industrial Psychology at the University of Johannesburg in 1986 and her doctorate in Management Coaching at Middlesex University, London, UK, in 2008.

Salomé’s private-practice focuses on alignment within team-contexts with a keen interest in Leadership and Project Management teams; fostering high-performance-cultures through a mixed-method approach.
