USB and the
Chamber of Beautiful Business, Cape Town presents:

“The [African] Future of Capitalism”

Event        26 April 2019       Cape Town

Are you prepared for what’s next?

With the next financial meltdown looming, we are witnessing an increasing sense of unease with the current configuration of global capitalism. Capitalism in any of its current forms is essentially a ‘un-African’ concept as any ‘winner takes all’ mentality that puts the success of a few over the prosperity of the collective may be. Yet, for many years, South Africa has been driving forward its socio-economic development by capitalist thinking while staying true to its roots of a more inclusive approach.

Seizing the global appetite for alternative economies, we will be exploring different notions and starting conversations on the possible future(s) of capitalism at this event hosted in collaboration with The House of Beautiful Business, at their first ever Cape Town Chamber. The University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB) is proud to be a co-host of this international series of gatherings, which brings together business, academia, and the arts in a beautiful setting.

More about House of Beautiful Business

Produced and hosted by The Business Romantic Society the House of Beautiful Business is a global think tank and community; it is a unique space created to humanise work in the age of machines. As an event and thought leadership platform it builds and cultivates a global community of leaders who are inspired to shape a more human way of doing business.

The goal is to create beautiful moments and encounters that foster insight, empathy, and hope, paving the way for what we believe shall serve as the new, much needed paradigm for our economies and societies: beautiful business. At its annual gathering in Lisbon, the House brings together a select group of 300 business and nonprofit leaders, founders, technologists, investors, designers, artists, and scientists to explore how to make business more beautiful, specifically how to lead with purpose and passion, build human companies and workplaces, and design for deeper connections in an age of machines. If you’re interested in participating, you may request an invitation here.
