ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Siv Hesjedal
Professional Associate at the Nelson Mandela University
Siv Helen Hesjedal is a freelance futurist, researcher, and facilitator with over 15 years’ experience in public policy and regional development. Siv has a BA (Hons) in Development Studies from University of East Anglia, an MA in Sociology from Rhodes University, a PGDip and MPhil in Futures Studies from the University of Stellenbosch Business School. Siv is the former Chief Knowledge and Operations Officer of the Eastern Cape Socio-Economic Consultative Council (ECSECC) in East London. She lives in Bergen, Norway but continues to work in South Africa. Siv is also a Professional Associate at the Nelson Mandela University.
Doris Viljoen
Senior Futurist: Institute for Futures Research (IFR)
Doris Viljoen is a senior futurist at Stellenbosch University’s Institute for Futures Research (IFR) where she endeavours to interpret global as well as local trends and assess their relevance for South Africa and Africa. Doris lectures on the master’s degree programme in Futures Studies at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB). She has specialised skills in environmental scanning, the application of foresight methodology, scenario planning as well as strategy development. Her research towards a PhD in Futures Studies looks at the future of work, specifically focusing on non-conventional employment engagements.
Lee Langenhoven
Economist in Standard Bank’s Consumer & High Net Worth division
Lee Langenhoven specialises in economic sector insights across Standard Bank’s local market geographies in South Africa and nationally across Africa Regions. In addition to sector insights, Lee conducts research across multiple industries, advising stakeholders on strategy formulated from a data-driven approach. He has a keen interest in Behavioural Economics and has been part of managing Standard Bank’s Behavioural Economics Mastery Programme since 2019. Lee holds an MComm (Economics) from Stellenbosch University. Prior to Standard Bank, he worked as a junior economist in competition policy and as a researcher in renewable energy finance.
