To grow your career or improve the performance of your business, you may need to acquire new skills or develop those that you already have. You could work in your industry for years to gain the relevant experience, or you can register for a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Business Management and Administration (BMA).

What is a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management and Administration?A postgraduate diploma is the first step towards an MBA or other Master’s degree, and then a PhD.

The PGD BMA has been developed around established business theory and research, and aims to provide managers, professionals and entrepreneurs with the skills and values they need to become responsible leaders and ensure organisational growth and profitability. You’ll learn entrepreneurship skills, develop a business-related mindset and enhance your understanding of today’s modern digital tools and processes. It equips you with management, entrepreneurship and technological skills, as well as the ability to innovate.

What are the benefits?

  • Start learning responsible leadership and decision-making skills that can make an impact on your career and society
  • Develop an understanding of how businesses operate in a global context, while also learning to navigate the unique African context
  • Acquire insight into how different roles in an organisation function and connect
  • Pursue your studies by choosing a format that best suits your schedule
  • Have a natural path of progression through the PGD, MBA and PhD

Who should apply?

If you are interested in completing an MBA, but don’t have the necessary requirements or experience, the PGD BMA will help you gain access. It also caters for your needs if you are interested in a formal management qualification but without the extensive research component. As with many other postgraduate diplomas, you can complete your PGD BMA in a single academic year.

Upon completion, a PGD BMA provides a foundation to grow your understanding of business, management and administration.

The University of Stellenbosch Business School, the first triple-accredited school from an African university, offers a PGD BMA. To find out more about this programme, be sure to visit USB’s website. From here you can download the brochure for the PGD, as well as the brochures for the MBA and PhD programmes.
