ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
Prof Daniel Malan
Assistant Professor in Business Ethics: Trinity Business School, Dublin; Associate Professor Extraordinaire: Stellenbosch Business School
Daniel Malan is the director of the Corporate Governance Lab at Trinity Business School, Trinity College Dublin in Ireland and the founder of IntegrityIQ, an AI-driven integrity platform supported by Enterprise Ireland which is in the process of becoming a Trinity Campus Company. He was the co-chair of the B20 Task Force on Integrity and Compliance (2022 and 2020), is a former member of the Global Future Council on Transparency and Anti-Corruption of the World Economic Forum (2019 – 2022) and is the regional partner for Africa and Ireland at the International Board Foundation in St Gallen, Switzerland. He is a former associate director of KPMG Forensic Accounting, where he was the regional service specialist for ethics and integrity services in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Prof Nicolene Wesson
Head: Centre for Corporate Governance in Africa at Stellenbosch Business School
Nicolene Wesson is a chartered accountant (CA(SA)) with a master's degree in Taxation and a PhD in Finance. She also holds the designation of Certified Director from the Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA).
Nicolene joined the Stellenbosch Business School in March 2013. Before that she was an Associate Professor in Accounting at the School of Accountancy at Stellenbosch University, where she lectured in Accounting for 14 years. Nicolene’s research interests focus on corporate governance in the context of finance, accounting and auditing. She has consulted to corporates and regulatory bodies on accounting-related topics, and her PhD research on share repurchases led to new guidelines and principles for share repurchases by South African companies.
In her role as Head of the Centre for Corporate Governance in Africa, she focuses on the development of ethical and effective leadership in support of sustainable performance within organisations.
