BLENDED LEARNING AT USB.
Experience the same immersive classroom learning from anywhere in the world.
A CLASSROOM IN A
CLASS OF ITS OWN
Over many years, the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB) has developed various methods to help you keep learning and progressing. One of the most relevant and exciting ways to stay on course towards career and academic success, is through our business school’s flexible Blended Learning format – offered on each of our programmes for 2021.
With USB’s Blended Learning format, you can attend class on campus, or remotely via an internet-linked device (online classes are delivered synchronously with on-campus classes). It doesn’t matter if you’re there in person, logging in from home, work or joining from another continent – you’re still able to immerse yourself in a premium, fully accredited learning experience. The space encourages human connection, interaction, the sharing of ideas and network building, along with exclusive access to top lecturers and international guests.

WHY IS BLENDED LEARNING THE WAY FORWARD?
You watch tutorials online to improve your physical and mental wellbeing. You order meals via an app for lunch to enjoy with your family at home. Your life is already a mix of online and real-world interactions and experiences – so why can’t your learning be?
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
STUDY WHIILE

The Blended Learning classes
are usually presented one late afternoon slot once a week. This format requires minimum
leave from work.
MORE TIME,
LESS COST
Digital class attendance is an opportunity to reduce travel expenses. You can literally log in remotely from anywhere
in the world.
APPLY YOUR
LEARNING
IMMEDIATELY
You can implement your
newly acquired skills at work
right from the start.
The online class format gives shy students the courage to
voice their opinions, and increases the richness of the views and inputs expressed.

#KEEP
LEARNING
It is now more important than ever to keep on learning. The World Economic Forum says adaptability is one of the key competencies we need in an uncertain and rapidly changing world. When we are adaptable, we can use new learning to challenge our thinking and change our behaviour. USB’s programmes are particularly suited to help you unlock the skills you need to navigate this new world, reinvent your business and rebuild the economy.
WHAT SETS USB’S BLENDED LEARNING APART?
Since 2015, USB has been investing in advanced technology and perfecting our methodologies to ensure that our Blended Learning experience is cutting edge, personalised and that our students get the best education possible – however they decide to learn. While each of our courses implements the Blended Learning formula differently, you get the same elite benefits no matter which programme you’re studying.
Not only are our lecturers some of the top experts in their field, they’ve also been trained in the art of virtual teaching. Through harnessing their expertise, implementing world-class learning designs and technology, USB’s Blended Learning experience is immersive, inclusive and highly interactive.

Classes are discussion-based
to support collaborative

Communication takes place
via voice, messages, chats and

DESIGNED
BY PEOPLE,
FOR PEOPLE
At USB, we understand the importance of human connection. That’s why our classes have been expertly designed for a life-like multimedia learning experience. In the physical classroom, lecturers and students can see each other, with all remote students’ faces on screen and/or on the classroom wall. Lecturers can talk directly to each student, and students can interact with both the lecturer and each other.
Time to break away into groups? No problem. The students physically present in the class can have their group discussions in one of our state-of-the-art breakaway rooms, and the online attendees can have their group meetings in the virtual chat.
HOW BLENDED LEARNING WORKS AT USB
Remote learning is proven to work best when you meet your lecturers and classmates in person first. That’s why most programmes start with an on-campus block followed by regular Blended Learning classes, usually once a week from 16:00 to 20:00 (this may differ per programme). Some programmes have another on-campus block towards the end to ensure an integrative experience.
