Partnerships and collaboration
The Centre has well-established relationships with a number of institutions in the SADC region and beyond. The Centre realises the value of these relationships and networks, and is constantly striving to expand its associations. These relationships vary from cordial information exchange to active collaboration in projects and industry initiatives. Hence, the Centre has relationships with, among others:
- The European Centre for Conflict Management at Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School in Belgium, one of Europe's leading business schools: The USB and Vlerick Leuven Gent exchange faculty and conduct joint research.
- The Universities of Stellenbosch, Cape Town and Wits, from where we draw additional faculty for training and teaching
- IRENE Institute at Essec Business School, Paris & Singapore
- The Trade Law Centre for Southern Africa (Tralac): the ACDS cooperates with this not-for-profit organisation to build trade dispute settlement capacity in the SADC, in governments, the private sector and civil society
- USB Executive Development Ltd: this collaboration leads to the development and delivery of short courses to managers at all levels on various aspects of negotiation and dispute settlement
- Mediation and arbitration service providers, including local and international training providers
- The head of the Centre acts as the South Africa representative of the mediation chapter of the International Bar Association.
- The Centre is listed as a Category 2 provider by the International Mediation Institute (IMI)
