USB dispute project now Desmond Tutu Peer mediation ProjectThe Delft Schools
Peer Mediation Project held a special function on 30 July to show-case the work
and development that has taken place since its launch in March of this year. The
function was hosted at the Vergenoegd Primary School in Delft, and turned out to
be the perfect setting for the student mediators, the community support parents,
and the supporting teachers and principals. The function was hosted
specifically in response to the Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, who is also
the patron of the African Centre for Dispute Settlement, who displayed a keen
interest to come and observe the Project and those involved. Other dignitaries
included the MEC for Education, Mr Donald Grant, the CEO of the Desmond Tutu
Peace centre: Nomfundo Walaza, the Dean of Education of Stellenbosch University:
Prof Yusuf Wagiet, and the Director of the ACDS Prof Barney Jordaan.
