International students coming to the USB
For students who want to acquire a superior education while experiencing life in a vibrant country with a rich diversity of cultures and world famous natural beauty, the USB is the place to be.
The USB's MBA programme is internationally accredited by both EQUIS and AMBA. All classes are presented in English.
Exchange students typically stay at USB for 3 weeks to 6 months, during which time they can earn credits towards their MBA at their home university. (They can also do a Full-time MBA over one year.)

Application for short-term study
The following is important for students completing part of their MBA studies at the USB:
- Students remain registered at their home university while studying at the USB.
- The choice of subjects taken at the USB should fit in with the student's overall programme. Read more about the structure and content of the USB MBA.
- Students should clarify the transfer of credits with their home university.
- No scholarships are available for this type of enrolment.
- No selection tests are necessary.
Exchange study fees
Students are responsible for the following costs:
- An international student registration levy of R2 100.00 (for 2010)
- All accommodation, transport and medical costs
- Study material (photocopies, text books)
- Refreshments and meals
How to apply
Prospective students should complete the following forms:

Bilateral exchange agreement form [164 KB]
Include the following documents, along with the completed application forms, in your application pack:
- Letter of recommendation from home institution
- Official Bilateral Exchange Agreements form (available on our website)
- Comprehensive CV
- Academic record
- Job experience sheet
- Recent TOEFL test results (all classes are taught in English)
- Subject registration form
- Copy of passport
- Proof of medical insurance valid for the duration of your stay in South Africa
- Student contact details – including email address
- Study permit (the USB will supply you with an official letter to support this application) – do NOT proceed to South Africa without the study permit
Important: Students should NOT purchase a flight ticket or make accommodation arrangements BEFORE they have received official notification of their approval at the USB.
The closing date for applications is 31 March for the July semester and 15 October for the January semester.

USB students studying abroad
Enhance your MBA with international exposure
USB MBA students can add international exposure to their studies in two ways:
- International Study Tour: Earn credits on the annual International Study Tour which usually includes attending modules at two overseas business schools and visiting international companies.
- Exchange studies: USB students can complete part of their studies at one of the USB's overseas partner schools. Attending classes at an overseas business school to earn credits towards your USB MBA forms part of the Management Enhancement phase of the MBA.
