Structure and content
Core Subjects, Electives and Research Report
The core subjects, electives and presentation of the students' proposals for their research reports are covered in the class contact sessions. Students need to do all the core modules as well as three electives. Students also need to write a research report. Students will receive 180 credits (120 credits for course work and 60 credits for the research report).
- Core modules (do all 7):Economic Development Perspectives in Africa; Issues in Banking and Finance; Microfinance; Financial Sector Regulation and Development; Project Finance; Governance and Ethics; and Research Methods in Development Finance
- Electives (choose 3): Small-scale Enterprise Development; Development Project Management; African and Emerging Financial Markets; Environmental Finance; Business Forecasting and Econometric Analysis; Public Sector Finance; Infrastructural Finance; Corporate Finance; and Human Resource Issues in Development Finance
- Research report: Write between 15 000 – 25 000 words on a topic of your choice. We encourage you to base your research report on a topic of direct professional interest to you. The research report is supervised by a member of the academic staff.
