Admission requirements

Admission criteria for the USB's MBA include:

  • Mathematics at school exit level
  • The successful completion of the SHL a or GMAT selection test
  • A favourable assessment of your motivation and working experience
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and at least 3 years of relevant full-time work experience, or
  • A 3-year national diploma or equivalent, and at least 6 years of relevant full-time work experience
  • Three motivational essays of 250 words each on your competencies, career objectives and personal motivation, plus a full CV.

Lacking mathematical and/or financial know-how?

If you have a non-mathematical and non-financial background and would like to prepare yourself for MBA subjects such as Statistics, Operational Research and Financial Management, you can opt for the five-day MBA Foundation Programme before the start of the MBA.

No degree - Recognition of Prior Learning candidate?

If you do not have a degree but have 10 years of Full-time work experience, of which at least 5 years are in management, and a GMAT score of at least 550, you may apply to join the USB's MBA based on Stellenbosch University's Assessment and Recognition of Prior Learning (ARPL) policy.
